Admissions Policy
The International School has an open admissions policy to students of all nationalities, including those who do no yet speak English. The International School will accept students throughout the academic year as long as an appropriate place is available. Each application is considered on its individual merit. Our objective is to ascertain that the prospective student would benefit from the school.
Children who have special needs will be considered for admission on an individual basis, and will be admitted if it is determined that our program is appropriate for the child. While we do accept non-English speaking children, we reserve the right to charge a nominal fee for EAL* classes. The fee will be determined by the number of classes necessary to bring the child to fluency.
Parents of students with special educational needs should indicate the nature of the need on the application form and enclose all assessments, Individual Educational Programmes and other documentation that will help the decision process. The International School currently cannot provide psychological services, occupational or speech therapy or assistance with severe cases of ADD/ADHD. Parents of children with physical disabilities should contact the school regarding the nature of the disability, as accommodation may be possible.

Alþjóðaskólinn á Íslandi er opinn nemendum af öllum þjóðernum og ekki er sett sem skilyrði að nemendur hafi náð valdi á ensku áður en námið hefst. Teknir eru inn nemendur út allt skólaárið svo framarlega sem rými leyfir. Markmið okkar er að hver og einn nemandi hafi ávinning af skólagöngunni og því er farið yfir allar umsóknir með þarfir einstaklingsins í huga.
Alþjóðaskólinn tekur við nemendum sem þurfa á sértækri aðstoð að halda svo framarlega sem húsnæði eða önnur þjónusta skólans uppfyllir þarfir barnsins. Ef um sértæka námsörðugleika er að ræða verður að tilgreina í umsókn nákvæmlega í hverju þeir felast, senda með umsókninni afrit af greiningum og öðrum upplýsingum sem geta skipt máli í umsóknarferlinu. Einnig ættu forráðamenn að hafa beint samband við skólann og tilgreina sértækar þarfir nemenda (líkamlegar, andlegar, félagslegar) til að betur sé hægt að ákvarða hvort skólinn henti barninu.
